The IRS Wheres My Refund tool is not yet showing estimated refund dates for
anyone, anywhere in the country. Normally, the IRS starts showing some estimated
refund dates about four business days after the official start date of the
season. This year, the season officially started on January 20. As a result,
normally, the IRS Wheres My Refund tool should have started showing some
estimated refund dates this past weekend. However, that did not occur. We are still hopeful, however, that the IRS will still start releasing refunds sometime this week. In past years, the IRS started releasing some refunds about a week after the official start date of the season. We will let you know once we receive more information and can provide you with a specific date. As was the case last year, the only guidance from the IRS is that it releases more than 9 out of 10 refunds within 21 days of the return being electronically filed. |
